reddish-purple beaded yarn

I wanted to try a beaded yarn so I bought this gorgeous braid of merino & tencel from Huckleberry Knits and some beads from CharmingWren that matched perfectly! I spun one single just like normal and then spun the beads into another single then 2plied it. I love how it turned out! purple bead yarn1 purple bead yarn2 purple bead yarn3

pinterest'ed: friendship bracelet loom

As a kid I loved making friendship bracelets... what little girl didn't!? I found a super easy way to make some bracelets that would be great for teaching little kids how to make them... and they are even fun for adults!

I used this tutorial from Homemade Gifts Made Easy. The loom is really easy to make. I just cut out a circle from a granola bar box and cut 8 slits evenly around with a hole in the middle. I used embroidery thread. It's fun picking out colors to include and I love watching how the colors work together!

This was really fun! This would be a fun summer activity for you and your kids!

cravings

I haven't had many crazy cravings because of pregnancy but one thing I seem to really really want lately is york peppermint patties. I can't get enough of them! My friend, Amy, found a box of 175 york peppermint patties on Amazon for $19.42.... so tempting!! But I may get a bag of them from Wal-Mart next time I'm there... :)
Satisfied my craving :)

Also what is a post without my cats doing something funny or cute right? The cats had to stay the night at the vet the other night so when we went to pick them up yesterday I walked over to the window and found them cuddling in the litter box. What proud cat owners we are! Seth said one day we will probably find our child sitting in the toilet. I love my family. :)

hello kitty

I just finished up this hello kitty ornament using this pattern by Gatuxedo. I crocheted two shapes and embroidered the face on one of them. I then stuffed it a little with batting and crocheted the 2 pieces together. I wasn't a big fan of hello kitty before but after making this I may or may not find her super adorable! :)

Speaking of kitties & adorable....

I found them wrestling in my tub this morning. I think Batman has gotten big enough that he can take Kizzy down now.

finished crib set

Here are the photos of the finished crib set. I love walking through the nursery and seeing all the baby stuff that is starting to take over the room. :)

Of course the cats think everything we put in there is for them... I catch them in there all the time!

it rained!

We didn't get that rain last night but this afternoon was a real treat! We got to enjoy a little thunderstorm this afternoon. The smell of rain was so refreshing! The cooler temperature was pretty enjoyable as well! I even heard someone singing out loud about the rain. I think everyone around here was looking forward to it!
Rain has never been so wonderful!

Batman was even enjoying the rain. We sat by the window and listened to the rain on the window and the thunder. So relaxing!

Thank you Lord for the beautiful rainstorm!

last week

Last week was pretty busy with birthdays & getting Seth ready for NYR. Friday was Seth's 28th birthday but since he was going to be on the road all day on his birthday so we decided to celebrate his birthday early. It was also another NYR sponsor's birthday on Friday we got together on Wednesday & had a joint birthday celebration in Kansas City. We went to BD Mongolian for dinner. It was our first time going there. They have a buffet of raw meat & vegetables and you fill your bowl with all the meat & vegetables you could want and then you pick out the sauces & spices and they grill it all on their grill. So delicious!

Then we went to the Royals game & had a great time despite the heat. It was just a great night spending it with great friends, good food & a baseball game!
Last night was a fun night with bdays, good food & baseball game!

The cats were desperately needing baths. This is a once a year event because they don't particularly enjoy it. But I love how soft & clean smelling they are afterwards!

All done with bathtime!

Unhappy about bathtime

We took this photo before this horrible heat wave & drought killed off all our plants. I can't even remember the last time it rained here. We need it bad. I think we may possibly be getting some rain tonight. *crossing fingers*

I got to spend some quality time with my grandmother this weekend. It was really nice having her visit. My mother is also coming this week to keep me company while Seth is in Colorado. I'm really looking forward to spending time with her as well.

Hope everyone's week is wonderful!

instagram

I just downloaded the app instagram on my ipod. I know everyone seems to already use this app but since I don't use the iphone I figured I couldn't use it but I tried it out tonight on my ipod & found it works! I obviously can't take photos on my ipod but I can use saved photos. I love the filters available & how you can share your photos so easily!

They make my boring photos fun! Here are my favorite photos that I uploaded.
